Daniel F. Smith, 414 S. Vita Ave., passed away at 3:45 a.m., Monday morning, May 4, at the Lutheran Hospital after suffering a stroke.
The deceased was born January 4, 1875, in the Town of Beaver Dam, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith. He was married to Sadie Roedl of this city, May 6, 1902. He had resided in this city until he was married, then moved to Milwaukee for two years and since that time has been a resident of this city.
Surviving are: three sons, Marcel, Roland and Alvin of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Glodowsky of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding in death were: his wife; one daughter, Winifred; his parents; one brother, A. H. Smith and one sister, Mrs. Eugene Gregory.
He was a member of the George Leland Camp No. 32 of the United Spanish War Veterans. He had served in the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment in 1898 and saw action at Coamo, Puerto Rico, August 9, 1898, under the late Capt. Philip Zink of Co. K.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the Briese Co. Funeral Home. Rev. David Wilbur officiated at the services and interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery.
