"Sam Henry...arrived in the Yukon in 1896...his wife Josephine followed in 1899, bringing their two young daughters with her, and a third daughter was born in Dawson...
...Josephine, an active member of the IODE, 'did much patriotic work, and was a tireless knitter' of socks for the boys in France..."
Josephine died alongside her husband Sam Henry in the sinking of the Princess Sophia.
IODE is the "Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire".

"Mr. and Mrs. Sam Henry - were among the oldest pioneers of Dawson. Mr. Henry came to Yukon in 96, and had been engaged in teaming, grocery and farming here for years. They left three daughters, Mrs. Selak, Mrs. Powell and Miss Alberta Henry. Alberta is in school at New Westminster. The parents were going out for the winter."
