Mildred "Millie" (Smith) Hoffman passed away June 30, 2007 in Edmonds, WA surrounded by her loving children. Born March 4, 1916, Mildred grew up in rural Iowa. She graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She married K. Merwin Salisbury, moved to Colorado Springs, CO, had three children, and taught at Edison Elementary School. In 1963, Millie moved to Tacoma, WA, where she married her former college sweetheart, David M. Hoffman. She was a docent at Snake Lake Nature Center and a member of the National Storytellers League- Tacoma Chapter. A lifelong Methodist, she was an active member of both Mason Methodist Church in Tacoma and Trinity Methodist Church in Seattle. Preceded in death by her husband David, Mildred is survived by her children Glenn, Elaine, and Louise, step-children Ann Taylor and John Hoffman, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She leaves a sister, Helen, and brother, Donald, and loving friends Marsha Salisbury and Dorene Wilson. Mildred was always cheerful, lived a life of service and caring, and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. July 7, 2007, at Evergreen-Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle, with a reception following. Memorials may be sent to Wycliffe Bible Translators.
