Dorothy Anderson 81, of Midland went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2009. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 - 8 PM at the Andersons home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 5 at 3 PM at Kelview Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Skaggs officiating, followed by an interment at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, TX.

Dorothy was born in Eastland, TX on June 6, 1927 to Bailey and Mary Smith. Her family later moved to Stanton where she attended public school. Dorothy married George Anderson on March 11, 1944 in Stanton. She has been a life-long resident of Midland and a long-time member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church. Dorothy loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren they were the joy of her life. She also loved the farm and raising cotton and cattle with her husband.

She was preceded in death by Bailey Smith and Mary Smith, also by her step mother Nora Lee Smith, one daughter Barbara Roberts; by two grand-daughters Sherri Leonard and Shirley Ann Coots. She was also preceded in death by a sister Pauline Rogers, one brother Barney Smith and one step brother B.L. Smith Jr.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Anderson Sr., one son George Anderson Jr. and wife Diann of Midland; one daughter Judy Coots and husband Joe of Midland; six grandchildren, Shelley, Joe Jr., Trudy, Tonya, Tammy and Alvin; seventeen great-grandchildren, Chandice, Justin, Erica, Marissa, Taylor, Michael, Kelan, JR, Maygan, Sara, Al'lea, Tyler, John, Joshua, Genatta, Joshua V, and Karlee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. She is also survived by two sisters, Rosie Pritchett and Violet Thomas and brothers, Charlie Smith, Bill Smith and Glen Smith.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to some very special people who cared for Dorothy; Dora Hilario, Lucia Torres, Leticia Cruz, Maria Azcuy, Patricia Villarreal, Rosalba Cortes and Hilda Garibay.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Woods, Cody Wilson, Sandy Wilson, Donald Wilson, Johnny Midkiff and Bobby Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wilson and Fred Hall.
