Catherine "Cathy" Joyce Parsley, 70, of Odessa, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at her residence in Odessa.

She was born on June 9th, 1940 in Hobart Oklahoma.

Cathy was the oldest of 6 children born to Ralph Marion and Millie Melton Smith.

Cathy lived in Pecos, Texas, where she met Jerry Parsley.

The two married on January 23rd, 1957 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jerry and Cathy have two children: Debra Lynn Rhodes from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Alan Craig Parsley from Leander, Texas.

Debbie married Wiley Rhodes in 1979 and they have 3 children: Michael who lives in Odessa, Texas with his wife Anna, Carley who lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with his wife Mandi, and Abby Rhodes who lives in Oklahoma City. Alan married Carla Patton in 1990 and they also have 3 children: Christopher, Daniel, and Cassi who all live in Austin, Texas.

She is also survived by two brothers: Larry Smith and wife Donna of Duncan, OK and Lindel Smith of Paris, TX; and three sisters: Evelyn Smith and Brenda Smith, both of Sterling, OK and Deanna Pate and husband Teddy of Chickasha, OK.

Cathy began her career in the Pecos Public School system and worked in public schools for the next 25 years.

Jerry and Cathy moved from Pecos to Odessa, Texas in 1980 where Cathy retired in 2003.

Cathy attended the Westover Baptist Church where she and Jerry were faithful members.

She looked forward to church every week and singing in the choir.

Cathy passed from this life on Monday, May 23, 2011, at her residence. She will be greatly missed.

Family visitation at Acres West Funeral Chapel will be from 6 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Westover Baptist Church, 2540 N. Torrance, Odessa, officiated by Brother Terry Wright.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
