MILTON — Helen M. Kuykendall, 79, of Woodsedge Court and formerly of Watsontown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 17, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1930, in White Deer Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Calvin S. and Emma C. (Rothfus) Smith. She was married to J. Wayne Kuykendall nearly 58 years until his death on May 3, 2006.
Helen was a 1948 graduate of Milton High School and later retired from Milton High School where she had been a secretary for many years. Earlier in life, she had worked at Fox Knapp in Milton.
She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church, West Milton and a member of the Milton Kiwanis Club.
Helen enjoyed her family and friends, sewing, volunteering and traveling with her family.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara A. and Mark Sunner, of Media, Shirley A. and Ted McPherrin and Jane A. and Mike Mertz, all of Milton; three granddaughters, Chrissy and Jessi McPherrin and Betsy Mertz; one brother, Paul Smith, of Lewisburg; and one sister, Blanche Felmey, of Wilmington, Del.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Floyd Smith, and three sisters, Irene Caris, Hannah Rissel and Viola Ranck.
Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 1875 Churches Road, Lewisburg followed by a memorial service at 11, with the Rev. Catrina L. Ciccone officiating.
Burial in Highland Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
