Mrs. Susannah Bingaman, widow of the late John Bingeman, Sr. and the oldest person of this part of the county, died last Friday (November 20, 1903) night at 10 o'clock, from the effects of a second hand stroke of paralysis, at the age of more than 98 years. Mother Bingeman, as she was known, was until about six months ago, when she suffered a stroke of paralysis, in the very best of health and spirit, of jolly disposition, and looked considerably more youthful than many persons of sixty or seventy... Susannah, relict of John Bingeman, Sr., and a daughter of John G. and Mary Smith was born October 5, 1805, which brought her age to 98 years, 1 month, and 10 days. She was a confirmed member of the Reformed church at Stone Valley. Ten children, five sons and five daughters blessed her union with John Bingeman, the five sons surviving while the five daughters have passed to the great beyond. Each of her children lived to womanhood and manhood's age, the last to pass away being Mrs. Jacob Shull, with whom she spent years of declining age. Her sons are William, of this place; Samuel and George, of Sunbury; and Galen and John, of Lykens. She leaves also 36 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband proceeded her death some twenty years.
