Mrs. L. R. Gerber
Mrs. Nellie G. Smnith Gerber, 74, Dillsburg R. 1, wife of the late Luther R. Gerber, died Sunday at 1:50 p.m. at Golden Age Convalescent Home, Hanover. Her husband died in 1937.
Mrs. Gerber was born in Adams County, a daughter of the late Amos and Mertie (Cook) Smith. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Dillsburg R. 1, and its Sunday School. Mrs. Gerber worked at the State department, Harrisburg, in the state and used tax division until her retirement three years ago because of ill health. She had also served as a Democratic committee-woman in Franklin Twp., York County.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Marian Allison, Mrs. Morgan H. Lightner and Harold E. Gerber, all of York; Dale L. Gerber, Hanover R. 1; and Mrs. Homer T. Crawford, Clinton R. 3, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters, Calvin, Luther, Jacob and Oliver Smith and Mrs. Roy Spealman, all of York; Harry Smith, Dillsburg R. 2; Lloyd Smith, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Morris McGinnis, Coatesville.
Rev. Donald L. Smith, pastor of St. Paul's (Paddletown) United Methodist Church, Newberrytown, will conduct the funeral service at the Feiser Funeral Home, New Oxford, Wednesday afternoon at 2. Burial will be in Hampton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday evening at the Feiser Funeral Home from 7 to 9 o'clock.
