Her mother died when she was 7 months old and she was raised by her grandparents William Mordecai Jeffers and Harriet Brown Jeffers. She married Autmer Ackley on May 22, 1916 and had six children. They were: Ethel Flourine, Myrtle Marie, John William, Autmer Jr., Charles Daniel and Lena Harriet
