Mrs. Sadie Mekeel
Dies in 84th Year
Mrs. Sadie Smith Mekeel, 83,
widow of T. U. Mekeel who died In
1928 and who formerly operated a
coal and lumber business in Cold
Spring, died at 8 o'clock this morn-
ing at her home, 83 Montgomery
street, after having been ill the last
month.
Mrs. Mekeel, who had been a res-
ident here since 1922, formerly re-
sided in Cold Spring. She was born
in the former village of Matteawan
and was educated in the schools in
that vicinity. She was the daughter
of the late Ephenetus. C. and Phebe
Rogers Smith, her father having
been a retired local machinist.
A member of the Cold Spring
Methodist church, Mrs. Mekeel also
was a member of the Ladies' Guild
of the church.
Funeral services will be conducted
at the home at 2:30 o'clock Friday
afternoon. The Rev. Fred W. Stacey,
superintendent of the Poughkeepsie
district of the Methodist church,
will officiate. Burial will be in Cold
Spring, in charge of John Cunning-
ham.
