Buford Smith passed away, March 2, 2008, at Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clemmons, North Carolina. Mr. Smith was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Augustus and Mattie Howard Smith; and by his brothers, James Kelly, Howard Augustus, and Batry Stevenson Smith.
Mr. Smith was survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and 7 grandchildren.

SMITH FARMINGTON - Mr. Buford Smith, 74, of the Farmington community passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Davie County to Buford Augustus and Mattie Howard Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Farmington School in 1951 and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Alaska from 1953-1955. He was a past Master of Farmington Masonic Lodge in 1974 and a member of the Winston-Salem Shrine Club and the Scottish rite. Mr. Smith was retired from Western Electric with 37 years of service. His parents; and three brothers, Kelly, Howard and Batry, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, (name withheld for privacy) of the home; two sons, (name withheld for privacy) of Alexandria, Va., and (name withheld for privacy) and wife (name withheld for privacy) of Advance; and seven grandchildren, (names withheld for privacy). The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Marshall and the Rev. Donald Funderburk officiating. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church Choir Fund, 321 Redland Road, Advance, NC 27006, or Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
