MOCKSVILLE Dorothy Jean Smith Everhart Proverbs 31: 10-13, 25-31 An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life...Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also and he praises her, saying, "many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all. " Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but the woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates. Mrs. Dorothy Jean Smith Everhart, 77, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Davie County to the late John Wesley Smith, Sr. and Mabel Livengood Smith. Mrs. Everhart was a member of Fork Baptist Church. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother that cherished her family. Mrs. Everhart lived out daily the Proverbs 31 passage as she nurtured, loved and cared for her family. Her flowers brought her great joy and she enjoyed providing for her family through the large vegetable gardens and preserving that she did each year before declining in health. She was a great old fashioned cook who made some of the best meals you could eat. Her biscuits and cakes were enjoyed by many. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Everhart in 1996; one infant sister, Judy Smith; three brothers, Alvin Smith, Bert Smith and Cecil Smith; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Smith. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert David Everhart "Bunk" of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Everhart and wife, Tammy of Mocksville; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Everhart Critcher and husband, Basil of Boone; one brother, Dallas Smith of Mocksville; two sisters, Margaret Smith Perrell and husband, York of Mocksville and Linda Smith Spake and husband, Don of Walnut Cove; and three grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Benjamin Critcher, all of Boone; and several nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests no food or visitation at the home but will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10th at Eaton Funeral Home in Mocksville. A funeral service is planned for Thursday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Eaton Funeral Chapel with family friend, Wayne Rentz and the Reverend Robert Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be considered for charity of donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.eatonfuneralservice.com.
