June Aileen Wahrenbrock Brown, of Sedalia, died Sep 13, 2006 at the Medical Center of Independence.
She was born Jun 18, 1916, in Smithton, MO, the daughter of Joseph and Ida Rodenbach Smith. She was a graduate of Smithton High School. In 1937 she married Harry Wahrenbrock, who preceded her in death on Jun 22, 1962. June worked at JC Penny's during World War II and helped sell War Bonds at that time. After Harry's passing in 1962, June became the owner of the Wahrenbrock Implement Company which was later sold in 1964. On Apr 19, 1964 she was married to Roy L Brown, who preceded her in death on Apr 12, 1983.
June was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Sedalia. She held the longest membership in the church, over 70 years. She served her church as Sunday School Superintendent for several years, as president of the United Methodist Women for 2 years, as circle member, and as a choir member for many decades. June's activities in Sedalia included membership in the Music Club, Altrusa Club, dancing in the Square Dance Club, and bowling in various bowling leagues. She served Bothwell Hospital as a Red Cross Volunteer for 38 years. June loved to take trips with friends and traveled to many countries with her family in recent years. She leaves a legacy of service and love for others that will be long remembered by friends and family.
Surviving are a son, Gary and his wife Janie Coxon Wahrenbrock, of Blue Springs, MO; a daughter, Cheryl Wahrenbrock Deterding and her husband Kermit Deterding, of Wellsville, KS; one brother, Bob Smith, of Independence, MO; 8 grandchildren, Joy Dwyer, Lori Wahrenbrock, Kyle Deterding, Todd Wahrenbrock, Sheri Wahrenbrock, Beth Dwyer, Ryan Wahrenbrock and John Deterding; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hopkins; and four brothers, Nelson, Nolan, Charles and Jack Smith.
Pallbearers were Jim Doran, Russ Dwyer, Scott Dwyer, Kyle Deterding, John Deterding, Todd Wahrenbrock and Ryan Wahrenbrock.
