Mrs. M.F. Craghead Dead
Mrs. Lucy J. Craghead, wife of M.F. Craghead, of New Bloomfield, died suddenly of heart disease last Sunday afternoon. She had not been well for several weeks, but her illness was not severe enough to cause her to be confined to her bed. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Hopewell Baptist church, of which she was a member, and interment was in the church cemetery. The funeral sermon was by Rev. L.T. Barger, of Fulton.
Mrs. Craghead was a daughter of the late Alex. Smith, a well known citizen of east Callaway. She was born in Bedford county, Virginia, January 17, 1854, and came to Missouri with her parents about 1870. She was married to Mr. Craghead in 1874. Her husband, one daughter and one son survive. The children are; Mrs. H.S. Holt and Herbert Craghead, both of New Bloomfield. One brother, William L. Smith, and one sister, Mrs. D.R. Overstreet, both of Fulton, also mourn her death.
Mrs. Craghead was regarded as an excellent Christian woman. She was highly esteemed in the community in which she lived and her death is universally regretted there. The Gazette extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
