Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri -
Died near this city on the 12th instant of Cancer, Mrs. Permelia A. Bailey, consort of Mr. Charles A. Bailey, in the 50th year of her age. Mrs. Bailey was affected with this terrible disease from nearly two years previous to her death and during the last year of her life, suffered the most excruciating pain, all of which she bore with great Christian fortitude and patience. She was a devoted wife, a kind and good neighbor, and beloved by all who knew her. Yet, while her death is mourned by us all, we are full of faith and confidence that she has gone from this too a far better and more glorious habitation, where the weary are at rest. To her disconsolate husband, we would say: Submit to this, his loss, with that some fortitude that characterized her life in her sufferings.

The 1870 Census, taken 3 days after she died, did not indicate she was deceased.
