Benjamin Perry Smith, Sr., age 78, of Genoa, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in a local hospital. He was born July 12, 1930, at Magnolia, Arkansas, and had lived in Miller County for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben P. Smith and Mary E. Smith, one brother, Billy V. Smith, and two sisters, Mary B. Perdue, and Willie Mae Smith. He was retired from Lance, Inc, where he was the Branch Manager. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Genoa for sixty-four years. He had served as the 4th and 5th grade Sunday School teacher, had been a member of the Choir, and had served as an usher. He also enjoyed working in Vacation Bible School at the church. He was affiliated with the Lion�s Club, had been secretary of the FOE #2684 from 1965 until 1970, had been a member of the Evening Kiwanis Club where he was Vice President, and was a member of the Civitan Club. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1948 until 1950.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina Kring Smith of Genoa, AR, who was the love of his life, one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Terry Moore of Little Rock, AR, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Vickie Smith of Alexander, AR, Benjamin P. Smith, Jr. of Genoa, AR, and William K. and Sharon Smith of Benton, AR, five grandchildren, Krystal, Jesse, Wesley, Terry Glen, and Dana, five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Michelle, Hunter, Kayla, and Zack,one brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Jeanette Smith of Texarkana, AR, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 P. M. Saturday at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Albrecht and Rev. William V. Garner officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Genoa, Arkansas, with military rites.
