She is survived by her children, Donna M. Archibald of Wareham and Florida, Paula E. Archibald of Taunton, David A. Archibald of East Bridgewater and her grand-daughter Kira Archibald of Abington. She was also a sister to the late Fred Smith.
Irene was born on December 6, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary ( Gedan ) Smith. She attended Boston Public Schools.
Mrs. Archibald was employed for forty years as a Secretary with the Westinghouse Corporation in Boston. Irene also assisted in the daily operations of her sons business the Novelty Leather Co. in Brockton. She attended and was a communicant of the former Our Lady Of The Rosary Church in Stoughton where she was a very active and productive member of the churches Ladies Sodality Guild.
Her funeral will be held on Friday October 23, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. from The Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul at 10:30 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 22, 2009 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street, Brockton, MA 02301 in Irene’s memory would be appreciated.
