Age 76, of 49 Carroll Street, Westminster, died Friday, July 6 at 3:45 pm at Carroll County General Hospital from a heart attack suffered while working on the farm near New Windsor where he was born. He was helping his son, John Elmer Smith, who now operates the farm.
He was the son of the late Dennis A. and Susan Miller Smith and was a lifelong farmer. Surviving him are his wife, Edna Mitchell Smith, two sons and a daughter:

Also 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
