SMITH, Vernon Wayne Sr. "Smitty", 74, of Plant City, Florida, entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2012. He retired after 53+ years at Lykes-Smithfield. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird-watching, and his dog Duke, and making his ice cream for family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Smith; children, Wayne Smith, Jr., Bruce Smith, Elicia Wilson, Tammy Draper (Scott); mother, Ivella Gillum; siblings, Evelyn Smith, Marie Hutchinson, Charles Smith; 8 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 2, at 3 pm at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 CR 39 S, Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Hopewell Memorial Gardens, Plant City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude and/or All Children's.
