She was born Nov. 9, 1920, a daughter of the late Walter J. and Laura (Girton) vonBlohn.
On Nov. 6, 1943, she married Ardis Earl Smith who preceded her in death on May 9, 2000. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage.
She was a graduate of Danville High School. Esther was employed for many years by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, from where she retired. She was a member of the former St. John's United Church of Christ, Mausdale, where she sang in the choir and also enjoyed singing along with her brother and sisters. Esther was a member of the Valley Grange.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon K. and Gary Warfield, of Silver Springs, Fla.; two grandsons, Tom Gass Jr., of Danville, and Chris Gass, of Coal Township; five great-grandchildren, Hillary, Laura, Riley, Matthew and Ryan; one sister, Eleanor Reynolds, of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Stuart W. vonBlohn; and three sisters, Miriam Reichenbach, Ruth Weaver and Yavonne vonBlohn, in infancy.
Relatives and friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Mary Schmotzer of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville, officiating.
Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville.
