Virginia Ilene Elder age 82, 2221 Hillcrest Ave. Plymouth, Indiana passed away Thursday at her residence. She was born in Portland April 30, 1931 the daughter of Merle and Anna (McFarland) Smiley. She was married to Donald Elder who survives. She was a retired school teacher having taught elementary education in the Monroe Central Schools in Randolph County, Portland and Decatur. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Ball State, Psi Iota Sorority in Portland and Decatur and Church of Christ in Portland and Decatur.

Surviving are her husband Donald, Two sons John Elder of Humble, Tx. and Kurt Elder of Plymouth, One daughter Kelli Hacha of Plymouth, One sister Sandy Fravel of Geneva, Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren

Funeral services will be Monday at 3:00 P.M. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Fosnaugh presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 3:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
