Gertrude Josephine "Tudy" (Smetana) Holubec, 87, passed away in San Angelo, Texas on December 30, 2012.

She was born in Westphalia, Texas on April 5, 1925 to Emil and Josephine (Schustek) Smetana. She married Edward Woodrow Holubec on September 27, 1946 in Rowena, Texas.

Tudy lived in the Eola community until recently. She was a strong Christian, a member of St. Phillip Church, a loving wife, a homemaker, an Eola Eagles sports fan, and she loved to cook and sew. She was a gifted artist, and she faithfully watched soap operas. She enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys but always said they made her too nervous to watch them. Her favorite actor was John Wayne, and she enjoyed Dean Martin's and Alan Jackson's singing. Her family, of whom she was so proud, was her life. One of her favorite sayings was "Other than that, I'm fine." She will be missed!

She was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband, Edward Holubec; brothers, Alfred Smetana, Henry Smetana, Emil Smetana, Alvin Smetana, and Ralph Smetana; sisters, Marie Smetana, Tina Hoelscher, Steffie Looka, and Olga Jezek.

Tudy is survived by a son, Larry Holubec of Paint Rock; and three daughters, Patsy Kahlig and husband, Mike, of Mertzon, Judy Jennings and husband, Eddie, of Kermit, and Linda McCune and husband, Wayne, of San Angelo. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Joe Kahlig, Michon Tucker and husband, Gary, Kris Kahlig and wife, Brandy, Jon Jennings and wife, Natalie, Heather Hays and husband, Steven; four great-grandchildren, Rhetick and Bryson Hayes, Gavin Tucker, and Aidan Kahlig; and her cherished dog, Bubba.

Burial will follow service in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
