Ruth P. Smeltzer Dietz of York, formerly of East Prospect, died at 8:38 p.m. June 9 at her residence, after a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Dietz worked in cigar factories and later worked in the cafeteria at Canadochly Elementary School doing various jobs.
Born in Lower Windsor Township Dec. 25, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Ida Dellinger Smeltzer. She was the wife of the late Edward F. "Red" Dietz.
She leaves a son, Gary D. Dietz of York; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ethel Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.
A son, Stanley W. Dietz, is deceased.
