He was the loving son of Brian P. and Andrea L. (Barnett) Smeltzer of East Berlin.

Jamie was a Bermudian Springs High School sophomore and member of the varsity wrestling team. At 6' 1/2" and 268 pounds with a trusting and lovable personality, "he was like a 'big teddy bear' who was loving and would do anything for anybody," said his mother.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Lauren R. Smeltzer of East Berlin; maternal grandparents, Jeffrey and Deanna Barnett of Manchester, MD; paternal grandmother, IsoDean J. Smeltzer of Shrewsbury; an uncle, Charles Shupe of Westminster, MD; an aunt, IsoDean Mitzel of Shrewsbury; several other aunts, uncles and cousins and many dear friends.
