Bruce Westwood Small, 31, a former resident of Kankakee, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) in Hendersonville, N.C.
Born Oct. 24, 1966, in Key West, Fla., he was the son of Leslie H. and Susannah Monk Small. His parents, now living in Arizona, survive.
He married Kelly Brown in July, 1996, in Phoenix, Ariz. She survives in Hendersonville.
Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Elizabeth, at home; a sister, Sarah, and brothers Scott and Tim, all of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; and grandmother Reva Small of Kankakee.
His paternal grandfather, Burrell Small, is deceased. His maternal grandmother, Mrs. Howard H. Monk, died in February.
A certified nurse's aide, he was employed at Lakewood Health Center in Hendersonville.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
There will be a strictly private memorial service Saturday at Beckman Chapel of Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee. The Rev. Donald E. Long Jr. will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Mound Grove Cemetery.
He died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
