Patricia Darlene Kahler, 73, of El Centro, passed away Sunday, May 5.
Patty was born to the late William and Mabel Sloan on November 2, 1939, in Iowa City, IA. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Patty graduated from Burlington High School in 1957, and then moved to Des Moines, IA, where she met Robert C. Kahler, whom she would spend the rest of her life with. They married on September 6, 1958, and together built a family, and had three daughters and a son. In 1969 Patty and Bob moved their young family from Iowa to La Mesa, CA, and two years later moved to Imperial Valley where they would raise their children. Patty worked as the bookkeeper for New Star Market in El Centro for many years, where she was blessed with the lifelong friendship of Eddie and Doreen Wong. In 1978 Patty and Bob opened the Finish Line Pro Bike Shop, and created more than 25 years of memories with family, friends, and loyal customers. Many young BMX riders brought happiness to her, and they were blessed with her love and support.
She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, and GiGi. Patty is survived by her husband, Robert Kahler, El Centro; daughter, Rachelle (Danny) Wilkinson, El Centro; daughter Susan (Cliff) Luallin, Santee; daughter Barbara (Kevin) Brown, Imperial; son Robert (Gloria) Kahler II, Corona; grandchildren, Daniel (Michelle), Sloan and Bradley (Christina) Wilkinson, Robert III and Joshua Kahler, Charles, Tony and Chris Luallin, and Aaron Brown; great- grandchildren, Ava and Zoe Wilkinson, and Kaitlynn and Ryder Wilkinson.
The services planned include a visitation on Monday, May 13, at Hems Brothers Mortuary at 6 p.m., and a memorial service on Tuesday, May 14, at First United Methodist Church of El Centro at 11 a.m.
