Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bouton-Hammitt Funeral Home, Rev. Charles Wheeler officiated and burial was in Princeville Cemetery, with military rites.
Visitation was held Monday night in the funeral home where Masonic services were also held.
He was born in Princeville November 8, 1921, a son of Free and Ruth Friedman Slane.
Surviving are his mother of Princeville; and three sisters, Mrs. Larry (Florence) Shaw of Bradford, Mrs. John (Marjorie) Romane of Princeville, and Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Steele of Lexington, SC.
Also surviving are one brother, Robert of Princeville, and 15 nieces and nephews.
One brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Slane was the executive secretary of the Stark County Farm Bureau.
He was a member of Princeville Lodge 360, AF&AM; Princeivlle American Legion 248; Wyoming Lions Club and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Peoria.
Mr. Slane was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Following his service with the Navy in World War II, he was active in Farm Bureau work as well as farming in the Jubilee community. He served six years on the board of directors of the Peoria County Farm Bureau, September 1, 1969, he was named executive secretary of the Stark County Farm Bureau.
