Mrs. Mary M. Slane, for many years a resident of this community, died last Thursday afternoon at the residence of SS Slane, where she had been making her home since about the first of March. Continued poor health made it advisable for her to give up her home and go where she could be with her daughter.
The funeral service was held at the SS Slane home in charge of Rev. JF Bliss. It was a private service.
Interment was in Princeville Cemetery.
Mary M. Green was born June 22, 1842, in Ohio, and so was nearly 80 years old.
She came with her parents from Indiana when a child and made their home near Princeville. There were nine brothers and sisters in her father's family. One only is living, Mrs. Stevens of Peoria.
She was married to Thomas Slane in October 1860 and to this union was born one child, Eva Erickson of Princeville.
A short time after their marriage they moved to their farm two miles southwest of Princeville where they lived for forty years. They then moved to Princeville where Mrs. Slane had since resided.
The husband died in August 1916.
Early in life, Mrs. Slane became a Christian. She was devoted to her church, giving of her means for its support. She was constant in attendance until sickness and old age hindered her going.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her daughter, Eva, her grandchildren, Clyde Erickson and Mrs. Mamie Donath and many relatives and friends.
