A.B. SKIPWORTH
Services are pending with Denton Funeral Home for A.B. Skipworth, 72, of 706 N. Olive St. He died Saturday.
Skipworth was born Aug. 28, 1918, in Whitewright, Texas, and he moved to Vernon, Texas, as a child. He spent his teenage years in Seagraves, Texas.
He served in the army infantry in World War II, spending three years in the Pacific Theater and earning a Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf clusters. He married Lorene Snedager on Apr. 27, 1942, in Paso Robles, Calif.
He came to Carlsbad in 1945 and was employed as a motorman at PCA. He retired from PCA in 1978 but continued his business as a plaster contractor until last year.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the DAV and VFW.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Don Skipworth of Salt Lake City, Utah; three brothers, Buddy Skipworth of Pine Bluff, Ark., Noel Skipworth of Vernon, Texas, and Clois Skipworth of Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Dolly Kidwell and Bonny Boyd both of Vernon, Texas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park for A.B. Skipworth, 72, 706 N. Olive St.
The Rev. Peter Hartman of the Carlsbad Mennonite Church will officiate.
Mr. Skipworth died Saturday in his home.
Pallbearers will be V.L. Garner, W.T. Canion, Billy Minner. E.A. Kirks, Charles Pratt, Leon Collier, Casimir Alexandre and Gerald Williams.
Arrangements are being handled by Denton Funeral Home.
