Sunday Nov 27, Mr and Mrs Floyd Skinner received word that Floyd's 92-year-old mother Anna F. Skinner died Sunday morning in an Ashton, Idaho Hospital. She had been staying with Mr and Mrs Walter Clark. Wednesday Nov 30 the funeral was held in Idaho Falls with burial in Bedford.
Anna Fluckiger Skinner, 92, died Sunday, Nov 27, 1983 at the Ashton Memorial Hospital, Ashton, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov 30, at 10 a.m. in the Idaho Falls Seventh LDS Ward. Burial was in the Bedford Cemetery.
She was born April 16, 1891, in Bedford, to John and MaryAnn VonAlmen Fluckiger. She was the first child born in Bedford, Wyo. She was raised and lived in Bedford until 1945 when she with her husband and family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She attended school in Bedford and after finishing elementary school she attended the Paris Academy in Paris, Idaho, for two years.
She married Joseph Alma Skinner Jr. June 7, 1911 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was the mother of 11 children and had one set of twins, one of which died in infancy. She raised all 10 children and saw them all married in the LDS Temple.
Anna was a loving and thoughtful wife and mother. She was a fastidious house keeper, a good cook and enjoyed making quilts. She made and pieced over 100 quilt tops, not only for herself but her married children, grandchildren. She and friends. When she could no longer see to make quilts she started to make afagans. She made 99 afagans as well as countless other crocheted items.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, the wonders of nature, her children and grandchildren, traveling with one or the other of her children throughout parts of California, Montana, Oregon, Nevada, Canada, Washington, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Relief Society presidency, Primary presidency and as a primary teacher, also as a Sunday School teacher, Genealogy Secretary and taught special religion classes after school. After moving to Idaho Falls she worked in the LDS Temple for many years.
In 1982 she moved to Ashton, Idaho to live with her daughter Mrs Walter (Rhea) Clark.
She is survived by son LeRoy Alma Skinner, Afton, Wyo., Wayne Skinner, Grover, Floyd F. Skinner, Bedford, Wilbert Skinner of Teoria, Ariz., Blaine Skinner, Boise, Idaho, Fay Junior Skinner, Danville, Calif.; daughters Mrs Walter (Rhea LaRue) Clark, Ashton, Idaho, Mrs Sam (Verda) Robinson of Wenden, Ariz, Mrs Wendell (Vernessa) Ransom, Salt Lake City, brother Lyman Fluckiger of St. George, Utah. sisters; Mrs enda Hansen Ogden, Mrs Lillie Wilkes, Afton, Mrs Mary Jensen Bedford, Mrs Adaline Jensen, Salt Lake City. She has 66 grandchildren, 182 great grandchildren, 37 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, a daughter Verna and a son Dean.
Mrs Anna Fluckiger Skinner, 92, former resident of Bedford died Nov 27 at her daughter's home in Ashton Idaho.
Mrs Skinner was born and raised in Bedford and lived there until she and her husband and family moved to Idaho Falls in 1945. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov 30 in Idaho Falls. Interment was in the Bedford cemetery.
