Rebecca S. Johnson, 75, of Honey Brook, died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, at the Brandywine Hospital after a valiant battle with heart disease and diabetes.
She was the widow of Chester A. Johnson II, who passed away in 1986.
Born in West Caln Township, Rebecca was the daughter of the late James W. Skiles Sr. and Helen M. Townsley Skiles.
An area resident all of her life, she was a 1948 graduate of Coatesville High School.
Rebecca retired from the V.A. Medical Center in 1988, where she worked as a secretary.
Rebecca was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Contract Bridge League, where she achieved the rank of life master, and the Moose Auxiliary.
She attended the St. John's Episcopal Church of Compass.
Rebecca was an avid bridge player and she loved to read.
She is survived by her two children, daughter, Cynthia J. Walker, companion of Stephen Domsohn of Honey Brook and son, Chester A. Johnson III and wife Gina of Coatesville; six grandchildren; four siblings, Florence Gilfillan of Coatesville, Martin Skiles of Parkesburg, James W. Skiles Jr. of Coatesville and Frances Johnstone of Christiana; and many nieces and nephews.
