Bessie Adams - Stamford, 81, dies at her residence - Stamford Newspaper
Bessie Adams, 81, died at her home at 814 Texas Street at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, following an illness.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Orient Street Church of Christ with Richard Honaker, pastor, officiating. Burial in Highland Memorial
Cemetery directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Born Nov. 2, 1904 in Denton County, she moved to the New Hope Community with her parents, the late John Edward and Lillie Mae Skiles, when she was a small child.
She married Lyle Adams on Jan. 17, 1926 in the New Hope Community where they farmed until moving to Stamford in 1959. He died Jan. 11, 1964.
She was a homemaker and member of Orient Street Church of Chirst.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Virgil and Hamp Skiles.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Adams, Alfred Adams and Wendell Adams , all of Houston and Ronald Adams of Great Falls, Mont.; six daughters, Eunita (Mrs. C. L.) Pace of Houston, Sylvia (Mrs. J. S.) Coulter of Cleveland, Beth Grant of Midland, Peggy (Mrs. T. R.) Crumby
of Santa Fe, Lavern (Mrs. Gene) Cowan of Houston and Linda (Mrs. James)Hinton of Wilcox, Ariz.; four sisters, Essie Davis, her twin sister, of Abilene, Alsie Lusk and Roxie York, both of Stamford, and Ethelene Isabell, both of
Abilene; two brothers Henry Skiles of Stamford and Walter Skiles of Brownfield; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
Pallbeareres were grandsons Dave Adams, Eddie Adams, Wayne Pace, Mike Crumby, Jerry Crumby and Curtis Crumby.

STAMFORD -- Services for Bessie Skiles Adams, 81, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Orient Street Church of Christ.
Richard Honaker will officate with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home of Stamford.
She died Thursday at her residence after a sudden illness.
A Denton County native, she was widow of Lyle Adams and member of Orient Street Church of Chirst.
