Bryson City - Hetty Skidmore Burchfield, 87, formerly of Bryson City, died Monday, May 1, 2006, in Thomasville.

A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Laura Skidmore. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Central Wesleyan Church in Thomasville. She was co-owner of Burch's Cleaning and Laundry in Thomasville.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Boone, Lorene Jenkins and Myrtle Breedlove and three brothers, Olie, Harley, and Jack Skidmore.

She is survived by her son, Gerry Burchfield and wife, Brenda, of Thomasville and one grandchild, Holly Michelle Burchfield of Charlotte.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Harris will officiate with burial in Arlington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
