Marguerite Blacklock, 92, Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003 in her home. Born in Springfield, December 28, 1911, she was the youngest and last surviving child of former Greene County Sheriff George W. Sims and his wife, Elnora Craig Sims. She graduated from Central High School and attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College, majoring in Commerce and Social Studies. She graduated in 1934 with teaching certification in History. After graduation, she worked for Mr. C.C. Keller in the County Extension Office for Greene County for several years. On June 13, 1936, she married Thomas Albert Blacklock and enjoyed a long and happy life with him until his death in 1994. Her final years were brightened by the loving attention of her dear friend, Janie Amos. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and Gene, sister Katherine, and son Thomas George Blacklock. She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Katherine Blacklock of Denver, granddaughter Kelly Bereyso, and great-granddaughters Ereca Alford and Erin Bereyso, all of St. Louis; and granddaughter Kelley Sobell and great-grandsons Sam and Corey, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today in the funeral home.
