UPDATE: Man killed in South Bend shooting identified
Metro Homicide is investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of West Ewing Avenue in South Bend.
Metro Homicide says 18-year-old Christopher Simril died from multiple gunshot wounds to his body after being shot in the 1300 block of West Ewing Avenue in South Bend.
Sunday's shooting happened near Walker Field Park on the city's south side around 6:20p.m.
Police say they found Simril laying unresponsive next to a golden Grand Prix.
They're not sure if the vehicle is the victim's or not, but it was searched and taken from the scene.
Simril was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
It marked the end of a busy day for Metro Homicide, who was also called to Walkerton Sunday afternoon to investigate an apparent suicide. An 18-year-old was found dead from a gunshot wound Saturday night.
Metro Homicide is interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence. They haven't ruled out foul play.

Simril was shot at least four times to the head according to his family.
A week has passed and investigators still haven't named a suspect, no arrests have been made.
Chris' mom Renee spent the weekend in St. Louis working on funeral arrangements. Simril, and his family are originally from St. Louis.
The Washington High School Senior was remembered this week by his friends as a good students, outstanding athlete and a good friend.
Chris' family said he had a 4.0, he was on the track team, member of the band and previously played football.
He leaves behind a younger sister, just 11-years-old.
Chris' funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, but a time and place is still pending.
Simril will be buried at Laurel Hills Cemetery in St. Louis.
