FROSTBURG — Mrs. Bessie E. Brode, 67, of 157 Maple Street, died early this morning at Miners Hospital where she had been a patient three weeks. She was born in Woodland, a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Morton) Simpson. Her husband, Charles Brode, preceded her in death. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. James Harden, Meyersdale; Mrs. Edward Capel, Frostburg; and Miss Leona Brode, at home; one son, Irvin Brode, Chardon, Ohio; two grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Earl Martin, Dunbar, Pa. She was a member of Ihe Zion United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild of the church, Pythian Sisters 3, Calanthe Temple, and the Daughters of America 98. Friends will be received by the family at the Durst Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. Pythian Sisters will have services at the funeral home tomorrow at 7 p. m. and the Daughters of America will have services tomorrow at 7:15 p. m. The Cumberland Evening Times, March 25, 1963
