|Birth: ||Oct. 9, 1819|
|Death: ||Dec. 4, 1874|
Henry was the first son of James Montgomery Simpson & Monica McAtee. He married Helena Cissell, daughter of Clement from Washington County, Kentucky, at St. Mary of the Burrens Catholic Church, in Perryville, Missouri, on 25 April, 1841.
Henry and Helena lived in Perryville until the death of James Montgomery, returning to Randolph County to secure the lands willed him by his father. By the beginning of the Civil War, Henry D. had acquired 320 acres of land between the forks of Camp's Creek, surrounded by large farms owned by his brothers. Henry and Helen had thirteen children, only seven of which reached maturity: Joseph Bernard (b. 1846), James Edmond (b. 1847), Henry Clement
(b. 1851), Isadore Thomas (b. 1855), George Pius (b. 1857), Louis (Lewis) Daniel (b.1859), and Mary Emma Hildegard (b. 1861).
Henry D. helped build the new St. Patrick's Catholic Church on its present site. It is said that the present altar in the sacristy was built by Henry.
Henry died in 1874 and Joseph Bernard "JB" was named executor of the estate. The will provided for the payment of past debts and the financial care of his wife, Helena. As each of the children became of age to handle their own legal affairs, the 320 acre homestead of Henry Dionysius was sold off in sections. The final probate record, dated October, 1881, settled the estate, and each son and daughter received $11.52. Helena spent the last years of her life with her daughter, Hilda Brown, in Brewersville (Modoc). She died in 1904, and was buried next to Henry in St. Patrick's cemetery at Ruma.
