Dorothy J. Balting, 91, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Morristown Manor in Morristown, with all her family beside her.
Born Sept. 1, 1920, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Luther and Ollie (Dunn) Simpson. She married Paul F. Balting on June 10, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1978.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis (husband, Larry) Hilkene, Martha Kehrt and Linda (husband, Jeff) Wright, all of Shelbyville; sons, Jim (wife, Becky) Balting and Dave (wife, Brandy) Balting, both of Shelbyville, and Tom Balting of Manilla; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Balting; a granddaughter, Kathy Conrad; four brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Balting was a lifetime resident of this area and had attended Shelbyville High School.
She had been employed as a factory worker at Admiral Corp.
Dorothy loved to cook and go to Tennessee and Florida. Just being with her family was her greatest joy.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vicki Clem officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in care of the funeral home.
