William L. Andrwes, Jr: Myrtle was my mother's sister-her mother was a Simpson but she married Paul Sanford. They had several children and lived up in Paris, Illinois, farther north than all the other Simpsons, and she was, two favorites were Bonnie and Wanda. I called Wanda when Sara died to let her know, but she's older than I am. She was younger than Sara and then Bonnie was a little older than she was, maybe a year or two. Their mother was Myrtle. I have a Myrtle on each side. Myrtle Simpson married Charles Samford. She was Orlando Senior's daughter by his first wife. She died when the other girls were still not grown, but I don't know how she died. They might have been just about grown the older 4. There was my Aunt Myrtle, Clara, Stella and then my Aunt Judith. I'm not sure about the order. There were four daughters. And then he married and had the younger group which is the picture I showed you. And Orlando was the baby in the picture. Winifred, I think is the oldest Winifred or Hazel, I'm not sure which was the oldest, Leona and then Orlando. Leona was the youngest I believe. So he had eight children, one boy. Orlando, Jr. ran the farm and was 5 years older than I was. He was my hero, because he was just, we were interested in a lot of the same things. Well, music. He liked guitar and all, and, of course, I was probably playing the piano back then too, in my teens. I could always pretty much pick out a melody, like one finger you know. And then you know those little ukulele cords they used to have on sheet music. I'd get my ukulele and get the cord and then match the sound on that and it made those cords. And the first song I ever learned was in E flat which most people don't play in E flats and A flats and all those, but that's the way I learned it, so I played most of my songs in E flat and A flat and B flat. I could handle it better than I could just the straight ones. That's the reason the girls I played with at church, they usually had to use a capo so I'd be in key a little bit higher and they'd use a capo and get up with me.
