Deanna N. Simpkins, long-time resident of West Yellowstone, lost her courageous battle with cancer on the morning of May 5, 2010. Deanna was greeted in heaven by her parents, loving spouse and son.
Deanna was born Jan. 27, 1938, and was raised in Seattle, Washington. She enjoyed roller skating, gardening and traveling. Her passions were her beloved family, food and antiques.
Deanna worked as a waitress throughout Washington state and eventually opened her own restaurant with her spouse in Napavine and Skamokawa.
Deanna and Bill moved to Stevensville to open the Stagecoach Inn in 1991, then retired to West Yellowstone in 1994, where she worked at the Running Bear Pancake House and then Eino's Tavern.
Deanna is survived by her sons, James Simpkins, of West Yellowstone, Chuck (Julie) Goodwin, of Yamhill, Oregon, Eric Lysene and daughter, Evon (Rich) Kolar, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Rita and Laura Dukes, Nick Goodwin and Joe Sneed; six great-grandchildren, two nephews; and a great-niece.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Russeff; husband, William; son, Derrome Goodwin; and brother, Johnnie Russeff.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Fir Ridge Cemetery in West Yellowstone.
