.Alta P. Barkley, Age 94, of Arcanum (OH), died August 26, 2006, at Wayne Hospital, Greenville (OH). Mrs. Barkley was born January 21, 1912 in Mariba, KY, to the late John and Rose Ellen (Cassidy) Simpkins. Alta was a Nurses Aide for 25 years at Wayne Hospital, retiring in 1987. She was the widow of James Barkley who died June 27, 1947. Also preceded in death was a daughter Lois J. Barkley who died December 2, 2003, her brother Russell Simpkins and her sister Ona Simpkins Thomas. Mrs. Barkley was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Arcanum. She is survived by her son Ron Barkley of Arcanum; her daughter Linda (Sam) Redlinger of Carmel, IN; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and her sister Rachel Derr of Huber Heights (OH). Grave side funeral services will be held 11:00 AM August 30, 2006 at Miami Cemetery in Waynesville (Corwin), OH with Pastor Michael Roberts officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends August 29, 2006 6 to 8 PM at the Kreitzer Funeral Home in Arcanum.
