She was the widow of the late William Howard Bates. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Simmons. She is survived by 1 granddaughter Michelle (Robert) Lambert, of Centerville; 2 great grandsons, Brody and Parker Lambert, both of Centerville; 4 sisters Elizabeth Wilson, Centerville; Clara Moody, Joelton, TN; Julia Reeves, Crossville, TN; Wilma Love, French Lick, IN; 4 brothers, Robert Simmons, and Howard Simmons, both of Linden, TN; and Ray Simmons and Prentice Simmons, both of Waverly, TN.
