Richard moved with his family to Nadeau, Menominee, Michigan when he was 4 years.
His father was a blacksmith & worked in the area lumber camps.
Richard moved to Iron Mountain, Dickinson, Michigan in 1920 at 17 to work on the railroad,
setting ties & clearing the right of way for the train tracks.
Marie became a substitute teacher in Breitung Township Schools. Richard sold radios; clothing
& lightning rods, then went to work for the Ford Motor Plant. He was Breitung Township Treasurer.
He invented the "Stor-a-lite", which was sold by Grand Union Tea Products & finally worked for
Breitung Township Schools as maintenance & transportation supervisor until 1951. Richard &
Marie moved to Racine, Wisconsin where he went into the tool & die business for himself.
They were the parents of 4 children.
