Eldest daughter of Simeon W. Simkins and Margaret Corlett; wife of David B. Crosley; mother of Isabelle and David Jr. Katie grew up in Utah and Nevada, losing her father at a young age. Her mother remarried, and Katie and her two siblings were raised mainly by her maternal grandmother in Cedar City. In 1913 at Los Angeles, she wed Dave, a traveling salesman for oil companies. The family moved around a lot over the years, and the couple separated once the children were grown. During World War II, Katie worked in the life vest department at McClellen AFB, Sacramento. She continued to work there until her retirement many years later. In 1981 Katie had a bad fall and had to be hospitalized. She then suffered several small strokes. Eventually, she recovered enough to be released to reside in a convalescense hospital and later a retirement home. At age 94, she died of pneumonia and Parkinson's Disease.
