Virginia Simkins Clegg, 86, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Monday, December 30, 1996 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah of heart failure.
Virginia was born November 6, 1910 in Eureka, Utah, to George A. and Florence White Simkins.
The family moved to Springville when she was 14 years old. She received her education at Springville High School and attended BYU and graduated from Henegars Business College in Salt Lake City.
She served during World War II as a Wave in the United States Navy. She worked throughout her life as a bookkeeper and a secretary.
She married Vernon H. Clegg on October 12, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced.
She has always been active in the LDS Church, serving in all of the organizations as a secretary and a teacher. Virginia was known for her honesty and integrity. She loved music and was an avid reader.
She is survived by two sisters: Fern Greenwood, Carmichael, CA; Marjorie Berrett, Provo, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Max Simkins and sister, Marie Roach.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel, 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT. Friends may call an hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with Full Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post 68.
