GLADYS GILLESPIE
Gladys Silver Gillespie of Cane Branch Road went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 23, 2010. She was the wife of Kermit (Dave) Gillespie who went home to be with the Lord November 11, 1999. She was the daughter of Lynn and Mary McCurry Silver. Mrs. Gillespie was a public school teacher in the Yancey County school system for over 40 years. She was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are a son: David Lynn and wife, Ervena; 3 grandchildren: Dawn Michelle, Shaun Michael and wife, Kim, and David Mark and wife, Jayanna; 5 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; and one nephew: Ken Hilliard
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Claude Surrett and Pastor Dale Banks will officiate. Burial will be in the Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
