DEATH OF MRS. MARY S. PECKENPAUGH
Mar. Mary Sigler was born in Gallia county, Ohio, March 26, 1825. She moved with her parents when in her youth to Vermilion county, Indiana and from there to Illinois. Here she was married to Abias Peckenpaugh in January 1852. In 1868 they moved to Kansas where their home has been almost continuously since. Mr. Peckenpaugh died in Seneca, April 9, 1896 and his widow followed him on December 20, 1897, at the ripe age of 72 years, 7 months and 26 days. To them were born eleven children, seven of whom survive her.

Mrs. Pickenpaugh united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early womanhood. She was not often of late seen at the public services of her Church, but those who knew her best know of the consistency of her life, which was a constant sacrifice for the comfort and care of those dear to her. She was a woman of strong character, modest and unassuming, a kind neighbor, a faithful wife, and a mother who gave to her family the best of her energy and strength.

Her funeral was conducted at the home where she passed away. Many kind and sorrowing neighbors and friends came to pay their last respects to her memory. The Rev. C. Combie Saint conducted the service.
