Beverly Gaye Sigler, 79, formerly of Blue Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.

Beverly Sigler was born on July 21, 1930, at Marysville, KS, the daughter of William W. and Edith Faye Coulter. She graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1947. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1951 with a major in vocal music.

She married Robert Sigler on Jan. 24, 1952, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence. She and her husband met while at the University of Kansas. She taught vocal music several years at Blue Rapids. She lost her ability to sing, her favorite thing to do, and so she began to play the piano. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Blue Rapids, where she was the organist. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, participating in her church, making friends, decorating her home, entertaining guests, celebrating her Irish heritage, dressing fashionably and caring for her dogs. She especially enjoyed attending her daughter's musical performances and spending time with her grandson, Eric.

Survivors include a daughter, Carey Zeak, and a grandson, Eric Zeak, both of Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and a son, Timothy Scott.
