Rose Anne Dunbar 87 year old former Mooreland resident passed peacefully away on May 28, 2012, in Weatherford. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday June 2, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. Interment will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Rose Anne Sigel Dunbar was born to Joseph Eli and Lora Mae (Carter) Sigel on September 2, 1924, in Greeley, Kansas. Rose Anne attended schools most of her years in Greeley and Garnett, Kansas but moved during high school due to the death of her father, graduating from North High in Wichita, KS in 1942. Upon graduation, she entered Nurse Training School at Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, graduating in September, 1945. Rose Anne moved that year to Mooreland, Oklahoma and begin working at the Mooreland Community Hospital.
On June 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Charles B. Dunbar. Together they purchased Austin's Market in 1948, which eventually became Dunbar's IGA.
Rose Anne was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. She served as choir director, Youth sponsor, Sunday School teacher and was an active member of the United Methodist Women's group. Rose Anne was a very talented seamstress, sewing for many in the community as well as a wonderful homemaker for her three children. Chuck suffered a stroke in 1990 and Rose Anne was a very dedicated caregiver for him throughout the remainder of his life. She and Chuck moved to Weatherford in August, 2000. She was currently residing in Weatherwood Assisted Living Center and was sewing for workers and residents there as recently as last week.
Rose Anne is survived by her sons, Larry Dunbar and wife Kay of Blackwell; Andrew Dunbar and wife Jennifer of Castle Pines, CO; daughter, Sarah Belanger and husband Bruce of Weatherford. She also leaves a loving legacy for her grandchildren, Cindy Reed and husband Jerrod, Andrea Frazier and husband Gregory; Matthew Dunbar; Lauren Merrell, Joe Merrell, and Kaitlyn Belanger; Sierra and Jane Dunbar. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
Rose Anne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Carter and John Sigel as well as infant siblings, Reta and Joey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Rose Anne's name to the Mooreland First United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the donations.
