1916 – 2000
Services for Allen Siebels, 84, will be held Saturday, December 16, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services.
Allen H. Siebels died December 11, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. Allen was born March 11, 1916 in Wayne Township, the son of J. Henry and Alma Hayen Siebels. He received his education in the Wayne Township schools. He and his father had a cream route and later in 1932 he started a trucking business, with corn shelling business in 1940. He was a grain dealer until his retirement in 1985.
Allen was baptized and confirmed on April 13, 1930 at Wayne Zion. Allen Siebels and Celena Brockens were married August 20, 1941 at Wayne Zion Church. They made their home in Anamosa. He was active in the church and served as secretary for the council, secretary-treasurer for the building committee and was a member of the scholarship committee for several years. He was a member of the VFW and the Legion.
Allen served in the US Army 13th Airborne Division with active duty in Europe. He decided to learn to fly when he was discharged. He received a private license in 1949 and later a commercial license. He enjoyed taking friends to plowing, corn picking contests and Farm Progress shows. He enjoyed giving rides to children. He flew for Cuckler Steel Span, erecting buildings in Iowa and surrounding states. He was active in the Flying Farmers of Iowa organization and served as director, vice president and president of the Iowa chapter.
He is survived by his wife, Celena; one daughter, Jane (Jomar) Kilnes; one granddaughter, Katherine, Nassau, Bahamas; one sister, Lucetta (William) Albers; two brothers, Leeard Siebels and Marvin (Ruth) Siebels, Hot Springs Village, AR; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister in infancy; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
